Whilst I was a Research Scientist I had been a keen hobbyist photographer but now photography is my full-time profession. Photography is a fantastically creative medium. Like the longer established medium of paint, styles and interpretation of subjects is only limited by our own imaginations. With my images I am trying to explore these limits. My love for the medium of photography pre-dates the digital era. I have my own darkroom for printing both Black+White and Colour (from slides). When printing photographs one not only has the opportunity of being creative during the taking of the photograph, but also the ability to modify that image during printing. Hi Amy, thanks. It took many shots to get this one, partly because of the size of the bird with it's long bill. I also wanted to use natural light, no flash, and to use a slow shutter speed to get the movement in the wings. i love photographing hummingbirds anyway, as you will see on my pages there are others taken in flight too. cheers, tony
